SUCCESSFUL team working for “The role of education in the green transition” during the Erasmus+ Regional Week 2025 for Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in November 2025.
The SUCCESSFUL team was represented in the panel discussion “Adapting learning content and teaching methods to achieve climate goals” on the first day of the workshop, 18th November 2025. The discussion was lively, and lessons were shared on how climate change education has to be tailored to local contexts for increased impact. The official opening by the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Dr Harini Amarasuriya, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Sri Lanka, Carmen Moreno, showed the importance of education in transitioning to green futures. The event was widely participated by more than 100 practitioners from the region.
The Regional Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting and Contact-Making Seminar 2025 for Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific took place in Colombo (Sri Lanka) on 18 and 19 November 2025, and was streamed online via Zoom.
The event was part of the Regional Erasmus+ Week for Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, organised by the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) of the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

Cluster Meeting
The meeting was opened by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Carmen Moreno, Ambassador of the European Union to Sri Lanka.
It gathered higher education plus vocational education and training institutions from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, which were already active in the Erasmus+ programme or potentially interested in developing cooperation under this scheme. Participants were joined by stakeholders involved in the implementation and promotion of the Erasmus+ programme, such as the Asian, Middle Eastern and Pacific Erasmus+ National Focal Points, Erasmus+ National Agencies, European Union Delegations in the three regions, the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.
This year’s event addressed the role of education in Green Transition. The cluster meeting gave opportunities to showcase successful Erasmus+ mobility and cooperation projects, linking European, Asian, Middle Eastern and Pacific education institutions, and focusing on the transversal programme priority “Environment and fight against climate change”.
